This paper takes the welding training course carried out by the Engineering Training Center of Xi’an Polytechnic University as the research object, and takes the training of students’ engineering practice and innovation abilities as the base point. In the engineering training practice teaching, different modules of welding training are carried out for students of different majors. The teaching contents, teaching methods and practical operating methods are innovated to increase the students’ interest in learning, the comprehensive engineering ability of students and the instruction of teachers have been greatly improved, and the welding practice teaching effect of engineering training is good.
