Combined with the structural dimensions,construction methods and the requirements for post-weld heat treatment(PWHT)of steel containment vessel(CV),the heating methods suitable for PWHT of CV are analyzed and compared.The feasibility of local PWHT is proved by application. According to the engineering experience,it’s suggested that the exemption of PWHT for SA-738 Gr.B steel plates with thickness less than 60 mm should be promoted and ultrasonic impact treatment should be used instead of PWHT for CV.
