Welding Process and Difficulty Control of Small Diameter UNS S32750 Super Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe
For the welding of super duplex stainless steel pipeline in a 1 500 m subsea manifold project, the control system Tubings in the pipeline are small-diameter tube with diameter of less than 1 inch, which requires welder's welding skill level extremely high, and the risk of root blockage is easy to be formed by manual argon tungsten arc welding for backing weld. The company adopts the welding method of autogenous welding or autogenous + manual filler wire welding, which is applied in the production of the project. The forming of the root of bead is excellent, the good backing welds are obtained in batches, and the welding effect is ideal. Since autogenous welding requires high ellipticity of base metal and accuracy of weld assembly, combining with the welding difficulties in the production process of the project, in-depth analysis are made and effective solutions are taken. Through several production projects in the past few years, the most frequent welding defects are summarized, the error correction schemes in production are followed, and experience and lessons in production are summarized, which provides a good reference for subsequent project production.
