Combining with the development history and research status of welding technology, this paper combs the basic problems and realization goals of welding science, welding technology and welding engineering, as well as the close relationship between the development of the three; discusses the thinking of scientific discovery of welding, innovative ideas of welding technology, and the creation method of welding process. Combined with the factors of welding material, process and structure, the innovative ideas and methods of "from 1 + 1 to calculus" are put forward.
