    Abstract

    In this paper,specimens of stress corrosion susceptibility under different welding processes were prepared by friction stir welding and MIG welding,on 6005 A-T6 aluminum alloy profiles respectively and exposed to the same test environment and inert environment,The method of comparison was used to assess the susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking. The farther the ratio deviates,the higher the susceptibility to cracking. It was shown that there was a slight difference between the stress corrosion susceptibility of friction stir welding and that of MIG welding,the values were 0.956 and 0.963,respectively,and neither of them showed stress corrosion tendency in 3.5% Na Cl solution. It would be seen that there was no brittle fracture characters on the SEM images of the two kinds of joints in the inert environment and the corrosive environment. The fracture morphology was dominated by dimples formed by plastic fracture.
