Effect of laser on metal transfer behavior of laser-MIG hybrid welding
Effect of laser on metal transfer and welding process stability were studied. The results show that laser-MIG hybrid welding process was more stable than MIG. When wire feeding speed were low,electromagnetic force,plasma drag force and recoil force induce by the metallic vapor from the keyhole of laser were the keys to affect the droplet behavior.The landing location of droplet in laser-MIG hybrid welding was closer to the welding filler wire due to the effect of the recoil force induce by the metallic vapor from the keyhole of laser. When wire feeding speed was high,electromagnetic force and plasma drag force were the keys to affect the droplet behavior. The droplet behavior of laser-MIG hybrid welding and MIG welding had no significant differences.
