As a new heat source,laminar plasmahas rarely been reported to be used in welding field. In this paper,laminar plasma welding and laminar plasma-MIG welding have been simultaneously implemented. The results show that fusion-type laminar plasma welding has a capability of forming weld. Fusion wall-type laminar plasma welding,in case of canceling the groove and retaining a2 mm gap,is qualified for the welding of Q235 A steel plate with a thick of 12 mm. The upper and lower pool widths in the as-formed weld are almost the same.
