Simulation and experiments on self piercing riveting process of steel and aluminum
The simulation of self piercing riveting process for 0.8 mm DX52 D+Z steel and 2.0 mm 6111 aluminum alloy is carried out by SORPAS software. Self piercing riveting process, distribution of stress and strain, and load stroke behavior are analyzed. The simulation results show that interlock distance and bottom thickness are 0.91 mm and 0.23 mm respectively. By self piercing riveting equipment, the experimental study of the above materials is carried out. Through the metallographic measurement of the section, the interlock distance and bottom thickness are 0.83 mm and 0.30 mm respectively, which verifies the effectiveness of the self piercing riveting process simulation.
