The research status of carbon steel welding used in railway train has been summarized in this paper. The carbon steel,welding materials and welding technology are analyzed deeply. The development process of the carbon steel and welding materials has been discussed. The development and application of high-strength steel will promote the development of carbon steel used in railway train. And this will bring the update of welding materials with higher-properties as well. The main welding technology applied in steel railway train has been introduced. The resistance spot welding and laser welding are the welding methods with low heat input,and the wide application prospect of them in railway train has been illustrated. The future directions of carbon steel welding applied in highspeed train are pointed out:the development of new materials,update of new technology and application of computational emulation technology will give a great push to the carbon steel railway train.
