Based on production practice and ISO 3834 series standards (Quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials)
whether the voltage and current comply with the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) during the welding is the key factor determining the quality of the weld seam. In the traditional sense
measuring the voltage and current meters of the welding machine itself is meaningless for controlling the welding quality and ensuring the quality of the weld seam. The factors that affect the current and voltage output during the actual welding include the welding machine itself
as well as other components of the entire circuit during arc combustion
such as the length and thickness of the cable. This article introduces how to confirm the current and voltage during the actual arc combustion
and how to verify and evaluate the measurement results based on IEC 60974-14 to ensure that the actual welding current and voltage meet the requirements of WPS
and the welding heat input is controlled within the allowable range
