The three systems established by the International Institute of Welding - International Authorisation Board (IIW-IAB) are the Welder Training Qualification System (PQS)

the Company Certification System (MCS)

and the Personnel Qualification System (PCS). These three certification systems have achieved continuous and stable development through the efforts of member countries. This paper introduces the international development of the IIW Welding Training Qualification System (PQS) and its promotion in China. The PQS system

through unified training procedures and examination standards

cultivates welding professionals with international qualifications

effectively improving the technical level and international competitiveness of enterprises. By the end of 2022

a total of 183

000 personnel qualification diplomas had been issued under the PQS system worldwide. Since obtaining authorization from IIW in 2000
