In order to investigate the characteristics of the distribution of the temperature field and stress field of single-wire and double-wire GMAW welding of T-joint of bogie frame

based on ABAQUS finite element analysis software

a method of combining numerical simulation with actual measurement is used to study the T-joints of bogie sleeper beam SMA490 BW weathering steel. The heat source models of single-wire and double-wire welding are established respectively

and the welding temperature field and postweld residual stress field are simulated correspondingly

and the simulation results are verified by experiments. The results show that the relative error between the simulated sizes of the welds and the measured results of single-wire and double-wire welding does not exceed5%. Compared with single-wire welding

in double-wire welding the peak temperature and length of the molten pool increase

the thickness of the weld improves significantly

the size of leg also increases slightly

the postweld residual tensile stress distribution shrinks

and the maximum weld residual tensile stress reduces by 8.5%.
