The research object is the "Fundamentals of Materials Science" and "Welding Metallurgy"

which are pos-tgraduate courses of welding technology and engineering major in the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Teaching methods of postgraduate entrance examination for application-oriented undergraduate was researched by prepa-ration and implementation of teaching. It is pointed out that the teaching should be divided into two levels and by stages according to the primary target（ "Application oriented" training） and the secondary target（postgraduate entrance examinations） to achieve the goal of teaching

carrying out the hierarchical teaching model

in order to train students’ engineering capa-bility

innovative abi-lities

professional ethics and team spirit. Meanwhile

this study provides a thorough grounding for culti-vate the high-level professional.
